The Brandon girls golf team’s first league meet of the season yielded mixed results.
In a Flint Metro League tri-match May 3 at Tyrone Hills Golf Course (par 36), the Blackhawks finished second out of the three teams competing. Fenton finished first with a score of 207, while Brandon shot 230 and Lapeer East 240.
The Blackhawks are now 3-1 in dual meet competition and 1-1 in league play.
Brandon’s Laura Kwiatkowski earned medalist honors as the meet’s best golfer, finishing with a round of 44. Also figuring in the Brandon scoring were Casey Nesterowich (59), Becca Scherer (61), and Tiffany Harding (66).
Tiffany Wood (68) and Grace Kemeny (69) rounded out the Blackhawk varsity.
The host Blackhawks edged Hartland 190-193 in a April 30 matchup at the par-35 Goodrich Country Club.
Kwiatkowski paced the Brandon golfers with a round of 42, while Scherer was close behind at 44. Other varsity contributors were Harding (52), Nesterowich (52), Kemeny (65), and Wood (66).
In junior varsity action that same day, Katie Koontz shot a round of 73, followed by Leah Reynolds (79), Rochelle Curtin (84), and Shaleen Freeman (86).
The Blackhawks travel to Linden May 10 for a 4 p.m. meet.
