Goodrich track sweeps Hamady, LakeVille in meet

It was a good day for both the Goodrich boys and girls track teams in an April 20 meet at LakeVille.
The girls team defeated Hamady 85-32 and LakeVille 75-59, while the boys team routed LakeVille 99-37 and Hamady 28.5.
The Martian girls took first place in eight events on their way to the win. The 3200 meter relay team of Samantha Minkler, Kaitlin O’Mara, Kayla O’Mara, and Janee Jones started the girls off on the right foot, winning their event in 10:22.4.
Goodrich captured another relay when the 800 meter team of Michelle Elliott, Casey Tubbs, Paige Plant, and Minkler won in 1:46.28. The Martians swept the 800 meter run, with Kaitlin O’Mara finishing first (2:30.19), Minkler second (2:43.6), and Kelsey Meyers third (2:47.45).
The Martians also won in the following events:
?400 meter dash ? Jones (64.0).
?3200 meter run ? Kayla O’Mara (11:40.4); Molly Downer finished second.
?1600 meter relay ? Minkler, Meyers, Kaitlin O’Mara, and Jones (4:29.6).
‘Discus ? Jacqui Cornwell (98?11?).
‘Pole vault ? Andrea Tubbs (9?); Andrea Howell finished second (8?6?) and Sarah Johns third (7?).
Meanwhile, the boys team finished first in 14 events on their way to dominating the meet.
Goodrich relay teams coming in first place were the 3,200 meter relay team of Ryan Warner, Chad Marler, Jeremy Phan, and Jake Custer; and the 800 meter relay team of Matt Hill, Wayne Coulman, Chris Roelandt, and Jeff Decator (who also won the 400 meter relay).
Winners in other distance events for the Martians were: Charlie Richards in the 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles; Matt Hill in the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash; and Ben Richards in the 1,600 meter run and 800 meter run.
The Martians rounded out the event with three wins in field events: Barrett Johnson in the shot put, Lance Keene in the pole vault, and Andy Klumpp in the high jump.
