We’ll be helping out our friend Rich McGlashen

Special to The Lake Orion Review
The alarm blasts, I get up, check my MTB e-mail, make a pot of coffee and turn the TV on. Another usual morning until the news flashed, LAKE ORION ON FIRE !!!!!!!! Our favorite Mexican restaurant (The Sagebrush Cantina) is burning and was spreading to other buildings next to it.
It was heartbreaking to see this, I could not believe this was happening. As I watch the fire fighters flood the roof tops, through the smoke and flames, I then realized that they were hosing down my friends record store two doors north. A lump developed in my throat. I was speechless.
It was bad enough to see the loss of these historical buildings and our favorite place to eat, but MY BUDDY’S RECORD STORE!!!!, ‘OH MAN?!!! NO!!! this can’t be!
Not only was Rich McGlashen (the owner) holding on to $200 of vinyl for me, at the time, he also lost approximately 10,000 other pieces as well, along with CDs, tapes, magazines, posters……etc. Rich McGlashen and his father started their business (Broadway Records) about 25 years ago.
I have bought, sold and traded frequently with them for 11 years. Richard’s father passed way last year and now he takes care of his mother and the store. It’s been tough for him lately, and now this had to happen. Rich knows a lot about the music world. Rich and I have spent hours talking about the old days, concerts, artists and songs.
This is his life and blood. Very few items were salvaged and they smell of smoke. Myself and others are looking into setting him up, somewhere close temporarily and are going to try to support him with donations. If anyone would like to send their regards, please be patient. We will be preparing a site in the area soon. Please mention to everyone to keep reading for further details.
