Girls finish sixth

ORION TWP. — The Lake Orion boys varsity cross country team finished second at the OAA Red Jamboree I at Lake Orion High School on Sept. 11, while the girls varsity team finished in sixth place.
The Dragon boys also had three runners finish in the top 10.

Clarkston won the Jamboree with 35 points, Lake Orion was second with 55 points, Oxford was third with 70 points, Troy was fourth at 71 points, Rochester Adams scored 136 and Seaholm had 173.
Junior Max Houvener was the Dragon’s top runner, finishing in fifth place overall with a time of 16:45.5 minutes in the 5K race. Senior Raymond Lucero II was seventh with a time of 16:58.1 minutes, senior Blake Peardon finished 10th in 17:13.8 minutes.
Also scoring points for the Dragons were freshman Ricardo Guajardo, who finished 12th with a time of 17:35.1 minutes, and junior Alexandro Skakal with a time of 17:53.8 minutes and 21st place finish.
The team’s next race is the OAA Red Jamboree II Sept. 24 at Bloomer Park in Rochester Hills. The meet begins at 4:30 p.m. but the race order has yet to be determined.
Lake Orion girls cross country
Lake Orion finished sixth in the six-team OAA Red Jamboree 1 meet with 130 points. Rochester Adams won the meet with 48 points, followed by Clarkston, 50 points, Troy with 74 points, Oxford with 83 points and Seaholm with 101 points.
Lake Orion sophomore Natalie Meldrum was the Dragon’s top runner, finishing 14th with a time of 21:43 minutes. Junior Lillian Brodoski was 20th with a time of 22:01.4 minutes, junior Elizabeth Crawford finished 31st with a time of 22:45.7, sophomore Mary Graves finished 32nd with a time of 22:46.7 and sophomore Liliana Anderson was 33rd with a time of 22:49.2.
The team’s next race is the OAA Red Jamboree II Sept. 24 at Bloomer Park in Rochester Hills. The meet begins at 4:30 p.m.
