Patterson’s wife seeks damages in civil suit
Atlas Twp. – In September, a civil suit was filed in Oakland County Circuit Court by Steven Potter, attorney for Brooks Stuart Patterson’s widow, Jessie Patterson of Lake Orion, in the death of her husband, 28, who was killed the evening of Feb.10 on Lake Shinanguag in Atlas Township. The suit was seeking a jury trial for unspecified compensation. Ortonville-It was a vote for change Sept. 11, as Ortonville village residents turned out to the poll in record numbers and ousted three incumbents.
Sue Bess, village council president for the past 18 years, lost her bid for another 2-year term to challenger Ken Quisenberry in a landslide. Bess received 46votes, or 15.03 percent, in comparison to Quisenberry’s 260 votes, or 84.97 percent. Also joining the council were Melanie Nivelt, Dan Eschmann, and Aileen Champion. Incumbent Mary Kassuba retained her seat on the council.
Voters cast 309 ballots, 29.65 percent of 1,042 registered voters.
‘I’m very encouraged by the election and the election results overall,? said Quisenberry. ‘I think the results show important changes are needed in the community and will be coming as a result.?
