$3k raised for cancer fight

Mueva Fitness of Independence Township raised $3,380 for a local family in need.
“We all know at least one person who has been affected by cancer and the hardships it can bring financially,” said Jennifer Breen, co-owner. “Worrying about paying the bills etc. should be the least of their concerns right now.”
Breen and co-owners Teressa Farough and Jessica Heslip hosted a Zumba Charity Event on Jan. 22 to raise money for Mark Terrian of Oxford, whose wife Teresa Terrian is a fitness member.
Mark, who is a veteran of the United States Air Force and a competitive bike rider, is undergoing chemotherapy treatments for Stage 4 rectal cancer.
He is working two jobs to support his family, but while he is undergoing treatments he may not be able to work.
“Our members decided to throw a Zumbathon Charity Event, where local Zumba instructors would lead a 90 minute dance party and participants could attend for $15,” Breen said.
The event at Mueva Fitness , 6465 Dixie Highway, included T-shirts, raffle baskets, silent auction, and 50/50 raffles, with help from local businesses, community members, 13 fitness instructors from around Michigan, and numerous volunteers.
“We wanted to do something big to help a family of five who heavily relies on Mark’s income and job stability,” Breen said.
The family set up a Go Fund Me page at www.gofundme.com/terriantough. Call 248-894-7942.
