The Downtown Development Authority hosted the 17th Annual Flower & Art Fair this weekend, drawing residents to the floral fragrances, melodious music, appealing artwork, crafts and other sights of the annual festival.
“Everything went well. The feedback we got from the vendors and downtown businesses was positive,” said DDA Executive Director Molly LaLone. “We had happy visitors, happy businesses, happy vendors, so I’m just ecstactic.”
The fair featured offerings from more than 70 vendors, including local restaurants and businesses, artisans and community groups.
Musicians from Lake Orion High School — Cayenne and Ginger Johnson and Erica Mourad — peformed on the Broadway and Flint streets intersection.
The event also drew attendees from surrounding communities, benefitting the Lake Orion businesses.
“One of our purposes is to know who the typical dowtown customer is and host events to draw them here,” LaLone said. “We had plenty of people who were not from Lake Orion coming to visit. Busy restaurants, busy stores. It was a huge success.” — J.N.
