After a shaky defensive start on Monday, the Oxford varsity baseball team defeated Rochester Adams 10-1.
Junior Kyle Teague, senior Jeremy Bukoski, and junior James McLean held the Highlanders in check to overcome the early lapses in the field. Senior Vinnie Ives and Teague each contributed three hits for the Wildcats.
On Saturday, Oxford took on Lake Orion, who is one of the top teams in the state, winning game one 5-4 and losing the second 10-5.
Oxford’s currently in first place heading into their final league double header with second place Swartz Creek on Thursday.
‘We have battled all year and put ourselves in a good position entering our last league date,? coach Kurt Nuss said. ‘We have to remain focused and come out ready to compete against Creek as they are a solid and aggressive team with the intent on knocking us off our perch.?
