A new communication tower was recently constructed near Lake Orion’s Village Hall. The 199-foot tower is one of 36 scattered around Oakland County.
The towers are part of the county’s upgrading its emergency services communication system. County money was used to build the tower. Plans are to turn ownership of the tower over to the village and the county will pay ‘rent? of $1 annually.
According to LO Police Chief Jerry Narsh, county officials told him the village’s tower was the most expensive tower to install because of the foundation and the larger equipment needed.
