Lake Orion varsity football players will be sporting pink in support of A Mother’s Wish as they host Southfield AT&T on Sept. 22, but the football parent group, PEPP, still needs to sell many more jerseys before the deadline.
This will be the third year the Dragons will be dressed in “Pink Out” jersey’s in memory and support of those that have battled cancer.
A Mother’s Wish was created in memory of Kathy Luby, a former Lake Orion teacher who lost her life to breast cancer in 2008.
The organization supports Oakland County families impacted by breast cancer by easing the daily struggles associated with a cancer diagnosis, offering support, hope and healing.
Jersey sponsorships include the name of the sponsor or cancer patient printed on the back and the player’s number.
In a ceremony following the game, the jersey will be given to the sponsor. The goal is to have every player wear a pink jersey.
So far they have sold 55 jerseys but need to sell 25 more. Anyone who wants to sponsor a jersey after the deadline can contact the PEPP. The jersey just will not have a sponsor name on it.
The deadline for sponsoring a jersey is Aug. 24. Jerseys can be purchased for $75 plus tax at sportsaddix.tuosystems.com/shopping/906498. A Mother’s Wish receives $25 from each sponsorship.
“Pink Out” t-shirts will be sold at the spirit wear table during the game.
