Lake Orion veterans and citizens alike gathered at the Orion Center on Nov. 11 to honor those who have served our country.
The ceremony included song selections from the Lake Orion High School Chorale and patriotic selections from the North Oakland Patriotic Band. There was a formal address given by Post 334 Commander Jim Hubbard honoring both those with us and those who paid the ultimate price for our nation.
“We the living are indeed indebted and benefactors to those who have made tremendous sacrifices for the advancement of our liberties,” said Hubbard. “May we always be humbly grateful to those brave American patriots who suffered and sacrificed for the glory of God and for the freedoms of all Americans.”
Veteran Harley Joe Burcham was presented the OVM Honor by Post 334 for his outstanding contributions and volunteer hours to Post 334, the Orion Veteran’s Memorial and the community.

After the Color Guard of Post 334 retired the colors, the audience joined together in honoring our country by singing ‘God Bless America’.
“Let it be said that our soldiers have been there for America, defending the Constitution of the United States. To all our veterans we have a simple, yet heartfelt message, thank you. Thank you for your unwavering service during peacetime and war here in this nation and throughout the world,” said Hubbard.
