Atlas Twp.-It’s just all in the family.
When the doors open on Sept. 13 at The Family Community Church of the Nazarene, 5366 S. State Road, it will be just like home for the visitors.
That’s how Pastor Gary and Linda Loudermilk describe the newly remodeled facility located on about 14 acres at the former home to the Crossroads Church of the Nazarene and the offices of the Eastern Michigan District Church of the Nazarene. The district was prepared to sell the building and property earlier this year before Gary and Linda, who were longtime children pastors of the East Flint Church of the Nazarene, 3515 N. Belsey Road, Flint, stepped in to start the new church.
‘We want it to feel like your home and just part of the family,? said Gary. ‘So the entire church was remodeled to fit the needs of the family. There’s a place for every age from preschool through teens to adults’it’s truly about the family.?
Starting in July, volunteers from the East Flint Church of the Nazarene, along with other congregations, worked to paint and add a variety of amenities including indoor play equipment, a teen room and coffee room.
‘The building really needed to be updated,? he said. ‘God is using us to bring people here out of the darkness and into the light. How many people, we are not sure, that is up to God. He knows.?
Future plans for the property include expansion to baseball or soccer fields.
