Last week’s issue of The Lake Orion Review had a rambling treatise from Mary McMaster about a column I wrote weeks ago regarding the upcoming elections both in Orion Township and nationally. My point was there will be a plethora of “letters to the editor” and lots of editorials from the usual suspects extolling the credentials of their favorite candidate. As responsible, knowledgeable voters it is up to us to do our own research and make our own decisions on candidates. How that suggestion somehow stifled McMaster’s First Amendment Rights as she stated will have to remain a mystery to everyone but her. But don’t get me wrong, I always welcome comments, and rebuttals, and criticisms especially from members of splinter groups with myopic opinions. Normally I don’t have the time nor inclination to respond but in this case her desultory comments certainly brought a smile to my face. Thanks Mary! -Bill Kalmar
