Show your LOve and support for the Lake Orion community by voting YES for LOCS on August 2nd. We were drawn to Lake Orion nearly twelve years for the neighborhoods and schools. Moving here was the best decision we ever made.
Last spring, I brought my son to LOHS, where he was performing with his middle school band. Along with others, we maneuvered around a trash can in the hallway, placed there to collect rainwater from the leaking roof. This was one of several throughout the building we were told; the roof was in need of repair.
The high school is not the only building in need of attention. The newest buildings are nearly two decades old. The flooring, restrooms, boilers and chillers, parking lots and sidewalks in many of the buildings are in disrepair/out of date. The 7,600 Dragons from preschool – 12th grade who attend our schools deserve safe, functional facilities.
On August 2, voters will have the opportunity to support our students and invest in our community by voting yes for the building and site fund. The 2 mill fund would generate approximately $3.5 million annually for ten years-money that could only be used for the sorely needed repairs and upgrades like those mentioned above.
Lake Orion High School’s auditorium was full of talented students and proud parents last spring. The spring concert was the result of many hours invested in practice and hard work. I have a vested interest in the schools, not just for my home value, but for the children and families of Lake Orion as well. It is time for the community to invest in our future. Vote YES for the Building and Site fund on August 2nd.
