Otisville man killed, two injured in M-15 crash

Atlas Twp.-Bad weather and icy roads may have been contributing factors in a two-car crash that left one man dead and two others in serious condition on March 30.
Township firefighters and Genesee County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene of the fatal two-car collision on State Road (M-15) just south of Maple Avenue at about 12:16 p.m.
According to Genesee County Sheriff’s Department reports, Edward Hammond, Jr., 64, of Otisville was traveling northbound in a 1999 Saturn when he lost control, crossed the centerline and was struck by a 2004 Chevrolet Venture van driven by a Waterford woman. Hammond was pinned in the wreckage and pronounced dead at the scene.
The Chevy driver and her 17-year- old passenger were transported to Genesys Regional Medical Center. Their conditions were listed as serious but stable on Friday.
All victims were wearing safety belts at the time of the crash. Alcohol was not a factor.
The road was closed for several hours.
