When you’re looking for a new salon, it’s always good to find a place that does quality work, presents themselves well and who’s employees are excited about what they do.
‘I still, after 20 years, get excited over a new color,? said Kelliann Gooch, co-owner of the brand new Villa de Goochi Salon in downtown Oxford.
Gooch and co-owner Desire? Villarreal, both Oxford residents, had previously worked at another local salon but wanted to ‘take the plunge? and start their own business.
Located at 67 S. Washington St. between the First Church of Christ Scientist and Discount Flooring, the 520-square-foot salon offers the latest in hair fashion at affordable rates.
Women’s haircuts start at $35, children 10 and under are $14 and college students are $19 with an ID.
Men’s haircuts are $20, however, if you come in every two or three weeks, the price drops to $13 and $15, respectively.
Both Gooch and Villarreal’s real passion is coloring hair and they have about 30 combined years of experience.
Combined color and cut packages are available at Villa de Goochi Salon beginning at $60.
‘I think those days of high-priced hair services are gone,? Gooch said, adding that people still want to treat themselves to a special trip to the salon without breaking the bank.
Spa treatments, such as facials and such, will be making an appearance at the salon in the near future.
Afterall, Gooch and Villarreal consider their salon as ‘therapy for the mind, body and soul.?
Villa de Goochi Salon is also dedicated to becoming more environmentally friendly.
When you purchase one of their earth-friendly tote bags, you can save 10 percent on their hair products. They can also refill your empty product containers so you won’t have to throw away the plastic or aluminum containers.
Gooch said a lot of their clients are even walking to their appointments because of gas prices and because the salon is in a great location downtown.
‘We’re nestled right in the middle of this community,? she said. ‘We have a lot of foot traffic down this area.?
A unique aspect that sets Villa de Goochi apart from other salons is their website, where you can make an appointment via e-mail.
Because they’re both members of the community, Gooch and Villarreal were happy to become members of the Oxford Area Chamber of Commerce as well as the Local Business Network.
They’d like to thank their friends and family who encouraged their new business, as well as the clients that made it happen.
‘We couldn’t have asked for anything more,? Villarreal said.
Villa de Goochi Salon’s hours are Mon. and Fri., 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.; Tue.- Thur., 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; and Sat. from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
