Clarkston Area Optimist Club honored Andersonville Elementary student Anna Mansour with the Optimist Student Citizen of the Month award for March.
“She’s one of the top kids at Andersonville,” said Principal Bruce Martin. “Her humility, kindness, caring for others make her stand out ? she’s the epitome of the Optimist Creed.”
“She’s one of the hardest working students I have ever had ? she’s a positive force for our school,” said Tresa Reneaud, physical education teacher who nominated her for the award.
Mansour goes above and beyond what is required of a student, volunteering during recess to help run yoga sessions for younger students and helping out whenever needed.
“She’s the perfect candidate to receive this award,” Reneaud said. “I know I will hear amazing things about Anna in the future.”
Mansour attended the March 13 Optimist meeting with her parents, Jo Elena and Matt Mansour, and her brother Joey and sister Sara.
“Think it’s amazing, such an honor,” Anna said.
“I’m so honored and humbled, I think she’s pretty great,” said Jo Elena.
