Plywood continues to support the underside of the I-75 overpass on Clarkston Road north of Flemings Lake Road.
Independence Township Supervisor Pat Kittle called Michigan Department of Transportation to inquire.
‘They are at least aware of the situation, to have placed plywood to stop concrete from falling. It is my understanding they place priorities on what bridges need to be fixed,” Kittle said.
He was told the bridge is in no imminent danger of collapsing.
‘It’s what MDOT does until they can replace bridges,? Kittle said. ‘I think it’s a problem throughout the state of Michigan. There are numerous bridges in need of repair.?
Residents voted last year to reject Proposal 1, the state’s plan to repair roads and bridges. Gov. Rick Snyder signed a $1.2 billion road repair package last November, which includes fuel taxes, registration fees, and $600 million a year from the state’s general fund, to fix and maintain Michigan’s crumbling roads and bridges.
