The Orion Township Board of Trustees and the Orion Township Planning Commission will hold a joint public hearing on May 18 at 7:15 p.m., to receive comments on the Villas at Cedar Creek conceptual planned unit development and rezoning requests. About a dozen fans came out to Jersey Joe’s on Dixie Highway, Aug. 28, as they hosted a visit by Ernie Harwell, the “voice of the Detroit Tigers.? They got his autograph and talked sports with the retired broadcaster.

New appointments

Leslie Pielak has been appointed to the Union Church Governing Board by the Orion Township trustees. Pielak will be the Orion Historical Society representative, with a term expiring on Dec. 31, 2006. Robert Hollenbeck has been appointed as the village representative to the Union Church Governing Board, with a term expiring on Dec. 31, 2006.

Orion Road path coming

A new safety path on the west side of Orion Road, from Atwater to Corners Court will be constructed. Orion Township Parks and Recreation Director Rock Blanchard said the path would give a highly traveled road a safe place for pedestrians, and that funds were in the 2005 budget for the estimated $41,000 project.
