Power outage hits 5,000 Ortonville customers

On Nov. 3, electricity in the Ortonville area went out at 8:16 a.m. and was restored about 10:30 a.m., said Detroit Edison Energy spokesperson Len Singer.
“We’re not quite sure what caused the outage,” Singer said.
“Typically a branch or something breaks a circuit that causes the shutdown.”
Brandon Fletcher Intermediate School and Brandon High School were sent home early, yet for students at Brandon Middle School, Belle Ann, H. T. Burt and Harvey-Swanson elementary schools, it was business as usual without interruption.
