Oxford runners sprinting for the top

Once again the Oxford Wildcats led the pack by taking top honors at the Brandon High School Cross Country Invitational.
For the girls, Lauren Cribb stood out as the only Oxford medalist taking eighth place with 23:40. The Lady Cats took seventh place overall of nine teams.
Oxford’s varsity men ran to the forefront taking first place with 24 points. Medaling for the Wildcats were Donnie Richmond in first with 16:54, Kevin Brown in fourth with 18:15, Kenny White in fifth with 18:45, Tim Rowland in sixth with 18:53, German Guerrero in eighth with 18:57, Todd Davidson in 15th with 19:19 and Adam Richmond in 18th with 19:30.
The Wildcats take off again tonight (Wednesday) at Seymour Lake Park against Lapeer East. Coach Ray Sutherland said he believes both teams won against East last season, but the Lady Cats are still looking at a tough run with only one member starting.
“Because of several injuries, Lauren Cribb is going to be my only girl starting,” explained Sutherland. “But they’ve vastly improved this year. All of the girls have really cut down on their times.”
