Township fire station roof woes

Atlas Twp. – The fire hall roof is leaking and it’s not the first time.
After completion in 1993 the approximately 6,000 square-foot structure has undergone several extensive repairs due to leaking from the roof.
Fred Forys, township fire chief, said the roof has been repaired three times since it was built.
He made the announcement at the township meeting on Monday night.
‘A major roof replacement was completed in 2005,? said Forys. ‘Now it’s leaking again.?
About six years ago, the fire hall roof was put up for bid, as engineers determined the building may not support the previously bid coat-and-seal solution according to township records.
About $75,000 was spent on the project, said Forys.
‘As soon as the temperature changed last week, the water started seeping in from the roof.?
The board will seek an engineering firm to examine the roof.
