A 21-year-old Brandon Township resident has been arraigned on charges after allegedly breaking into his neighbors? home.
Joshua Johnson was arraigned on June 14 on one count of second degree home invasion, a 15-year felony, by 52-2 Judge Kelley Kostin. Johnson remains in custody at Oakland County Jail on $10,000 bond.
According to police reports, Brandon deputies responded to the Sashabaw Meadows Mobile Home Park about 3:30 p.m. after a homeowner reported he had left his home for the store. The homeowner later realized he’d forgotten his wallet and returned a few minutes later to find his someone in his home. The suspect covered his face and exited the home. The homeowner identified the suspect as his neighbor.
Brandon Deputy Mike Garrison and his partner, K-9 Bodi, were dispatched to assist in the search for the suspect. Det. Brown requested an Evidence Tech to process the scene of the home The homeowner advised that the suspect may have stolen his Methadone, Clonipin and Xanax prescription drugs.
The suspect was found in his home nearby, sitting on the couch, said Brown. He was taken into custody without incident.
‘The usage of prescription drugs and theft of medications are on the increase,? said Brown.
‘Too often when street drugs are not available, they turn to other drugs. Individuals that have prescription drugs should be more discrete with where they keep medication. The medicine cabinet is not always the best place to keep those items. There’s also more cases of medications taken from vehicles.?
