The Oxford baseball team showed it is ready to compete next season in the Oakland Activities Association.
The Wildcats lost in semifinal district play on Saturday to Rochester Adams, 5-3.
But, the Cats finished 21-12 for the season, after winning only six games last year.
Next season, Oxford will leave the Flint Metro League and compete in the OAA.
Facing, Adams, one of the top teams in the OAA, the Wildcats showed they can compete.
They qualified for district play after beating Lake Orion, 5-4, on a walk-off home run by pitcher Billy Kammerer.
Kammerer also pitched well against Adams but the team could not muster any late-game heroics.
Adams went on to beat Romeo, 15-13, to win the district title. Adams had clinched the OAA North title several weeks ago.
Oxford took a 2-0 lead in the game before Adams tied the score and then went ahead, 3-2.
A two-run home run by Highlander pitcher Mike Johnson proved to be the winning margin.
Johnson also shut down the Wildcats, allowing a run in 2.2 innings of relief.
