Rotarians offer flag service

Davisburg Rotarians want to see as many flags fly as possible, and offer a Celebration of America Flag Display Service to help.
For participants, Davisburg Rotary Club volunteers will install capped PVC sleeves in front yards at grade level to not interfere with lawn maintenance.
Rotarians will place a 3-by-5-foot flag on a 10-foot staff in the sleeves for one week on Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Veteran’s Day.
‘Can you imagine how wonderful it will be to drive down your street and others in the community with a flag in front of every house,? said Rotarian Collin Walls. ‘Everything is done for you. Rotary purchases, installs, removes, maintains and stores the flags, which will remain the property of Davisburg Rotary.?
Service area includes west of Sashabaw Road, north of White Lake Road, south of Grange Hall Road, and east of Hickory Ridge Road. Cost is $30 per year. All profits support Davisbug Rotary, Scout Troop 192, and Springfield Firefighters Association. The project is sponsored by Bridge Lake Market Springfield Accounting and Tax Strut Tech Systems.
‘They have projects like this in Texas, Ohio, Florida, but none in Michigan.,? Walls said. ‘It seemed like a good idea ? we can’t fly the flag enough. We were looking for a project in the community’s interest that would raise some funds for our community-service projects.?
Davisburg Rotarians also install handicap ramps, help elderly and disabled with yard clean-up, and provide aid to Neighbor for Neighbor, shopping trips for needy families, shelter boxes to Haiti, wells in Bangladesh, and eyes glasses to Guatemala.?
“One of our annual events is to deliver Christmas food boxes to over 80 plus families in the area,” said Diana Walls, secretary for Davisburg Rotary. ‘A special thank you to those who help us make this possible, White Lake Market, Bridge Lake Market, volunteers from the local fire department association, Boy Scout Troop 192, Mary Keen’s 4-Hr’s, can food drives from local schools, Davisburg Candle Factory, and many other residents and local businesses.”
