The Lady Wildcats capped off a 2-0 week with a 53-33 victory Holly on Friday night, taking their record to 7-2 in Flint Metro League play and remaining in first place in the division.
The Wildcats used another stingy defensive effort to take control of the game, holding Holly to nine points in the first quarter, eight in the second quarter, and four in the third.
They were ahead by 12 entering the fourth and used a 21-point explosion in the fourth to put the game on ice.
Oxford Coach Al Poynter was very pleased with the girls? effort that night.
‘Our effort was outstanding tonight at both ends,? he said. ‘We moved the ball well on offense and kept the defensive pressure on Holly for the entire 32 minutes.? We are starting to get things going defensively. Tonight was the sixth straight game that we have held our opponent to under 40 points.?
Senior Guard Brooke Bocquet led the balanced offensive attack with 14 points.
Junior Allie Laidlaw had 12 points, while Senior Jessica Raisch added nine points along with eight points from Junior Taylor Medel and six points from Senior Le’Essa Collier.
On Tuesday, The Wildcats came out full of life and energy in first quarter, jumping out to a 13-6 lead in route to a 41-25 victory over Linden.

‘Our girls came out energized and focused tonight,? Poynter said. ‘It was our best start to a game this season, and I was very impressed with how everyone stepped up their effort after Joelle’s knee injury.?

Cassi Archer contributed six points to the scoring, while Medel was a beast on the glass, grabbing eight rebounds for the game.
