~Lake Orion High School golfer Cameron Beeler’s strong first round wasn’t quite enough to make the cut at the Michigan Junior State Amateur on July 28, but the soon-to-be senior was impressive nonetheless, shooting a 73 at Forest Akers in East Lansing.

~Orion resident Ken Rossman won a silver medal at the U.S. Transplant Games in Pittsburgh for 3-on-3 basketball.

~A few too many mistakes cost Lake Orion football team in their season opener against Rockford. The Rams won the game 17-7.
~The Lake Orion boys soccer team lost 2-0 to Clarkston.

~The Dragons football team beat West Bloomfield 24-14.
Sean Charette threw two first half touchdowns.
Branden Oakes gained over 100 yards on the ground to lead the team to its first victory of the season.

~Mikael Lott scored touchdowns three different ways to help beat Oak Park 34-14.
~The Lake Orion boys? cross country team scored a big win at the Holly Invitational, scoring 45 points, which was 36 points clear of runner-up Catholic Central.

~Lake Orion scored four touchdowns before Southfield Lathrup recorded a first down in the 41-0 rout, the Dragons? second straight win.
~The boys? soccer squad lost to Clarkston 2-0 in a game similar to their previous loss to the rival Wolves.
October 1
~The football squad’s winning streak continued with a 35-0 victory over Troy Athens at Lake Orion’s homecoming game.
~The Lake Orion boys? cross country squad won the first OAA Red Jamboree with ease, with Ryan Ziolko and Sean Bone running well.
~Lake Orion spikers couldn’t tilt the game in their favor against Seaholm despite rally.
October 8
~Lake Orion’s football team opened up their lead in the OAA red with a 36-3 victory against Troy.
~The boys? cross country squad was edged by Novi Catholic Central, ending hopes of a second county championship.
October 15
~Lake Orion’s gridiron streak reached six victories in a row after their 55-0 rout of Royal Oak.
October 22
~The Dragons toppled Rochester Adams 38-28. Junior Kim Bruce ran for 258 yards on 22 carries, including a 65-yard touchdown run.
~The Dragons boys? varisty soccer team beat Clarkston 2-1 in overtime to claim their first distrct championship trohpy since 2006.
October 29
~The Dragons football team won the OAA Red league title after a 17-14 win against rival Clarkston. The squad ended the season 8-1 (7-0 in league play).
~The boys? cross country team took first place at the regional meet, with Sean Bone taking first place, running a 3.1 mile race in 15 minutes and 30 seconds.
November 5
~The Dragons beat Utica Eisenhower 7-0, advancing the football team to the district final.
November 12
~The football squad beat Romeo 24-23 in the district championship, advancing the Dragons to the regional finals for the third time in four years. Sean Charette threw two third quarter touchdowns, both in fourth-and-long situations.
November 19
~A miracle, fourth-quarter 49-yard field goal by Jeff Heath helped the football team win a thrilling 38-36 game against Sterling Heights Stevenson. The team was on the way to the semi-finals.
~The boys? cross-country team finished fourth at the state finals.
~Girls? hoopster Bethany Watterworth signed a letter of inten to play at Oakland University.
November 26
~A steamroll 38-0 victory over Dearborn Fordson sent the Lake Orion football team to their first ever state finals.
December 3
~Though they lost to Rockford 26-14, the Dragons? first trip to the state finals was full of excitement–in the stands and on the field. Thousands from Lake Orion convened at Ford Field in downtown Detroit, filling half the stands.
December 10
~The Lake Orion wrestling team grappled with a long football season, losing a close first match with Oxford and placing second at the Dragon Invitational.
~The hockey team beat the Saline Hornets and the South Lyon Lions in their first two games.
December 17
~The hockey team lost against the Stoney Island Cougars and beat Clarkston.
~The Lake Orion wrestling team beat West Bloomfield and placed first at the Owosso Invite.
