Viewed as one of the most popular books from C.S. Lewis? Chronicles of Narnia series, Oxford High School students will present ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe? at the Performing Arts Center next week.
Showtimes are at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13 and Friday, Dec. 14, and at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15. Tickets are $5 at the door.
The adventure begins when four siblings, Peter (Andrew Stein), Susan (J.D.Scholz), Edmund (Paul Belmonte) and Lucy (Chelsea Landry) Pevensie, are evacuated from London during World War II, and settle with an elderly Professor in a large country home.
During a game of hide-and-seek, the children are transported to the magical, wintry world of Narnia through a mysterious wooden wardrobe in the home.
In Narnia, the ruthless and cold White Witch (Adrianne Schmidt) and her army have taken over the kingdom, ensuring it is always winter, but never Christmas.
Through the help of mythical talking beasts, like Mr. Tumnus the faun (Josef Kraweiw) and woodland creatures like Mr. and Mrs. Beaver (Aaron Malinowski and Amanda Ryskamp), the Pevensie children learn of the ancient prophecy that if they fill the four thrones at Cair Paravel, the White Witch’s reign over the land will end.
The true king of Narnia, a great lion called Aslan (Nick Risinger), and his loyal army rally around the children to help good prevail.
‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe? will be directed by Debra Brown and student-directed by Chandler Macocha.
