Scouts help lighthouse

Girl Scout Troop 1878, Independence Elementary, spent the past three weeks collecting food donations for Lighthouse North.
April 3, the scouts, with Troop Leader Nancy Ritchey, stopped by the Sashabaw Road food pantry to deliver boxes filled with cans, jars, and boxes of food.
Lighthouse North, on Sashabaw Road, is part of the non-profit charitable organization Lighthouse Emergency Services.
Incorporated in 1972, it provides food, personal care items, and financial assistance to people in need. It depends on volunteer help, and private and corporate donations.
It opened its Clarkston branch in 1990, and moved into its current location in 2001.
