For the past 30 years, including six in Lake Orion, Orion Troy Ophthalmology has been on the cutting edge when it comes to eye surgery.
The office recently became one of the first in the state to offer a new no-injection, no-patch and no-stitch procedure in cataract surgery.
Charles Colombo, M.D., says the recently introduced bifocal intraocular lens eye implant is one of the most revolutionary procedures of the last decade.
The bifocal lens focuses at both distance and near, decreasing the typical dependence on glasses at all distances ? an option that didn’t exist with the monofocal intraocular lens.
But the ‘hi-tech? office at Orion Troy Ophthalmology can offer much more to their patients. Both locations provide complete medical evaluation and treatment of the eye.
These services include cataract and implant surgery, glaucoma testing and management, treatment for diseases of the eye, emergency eye care, contact lenses, and a complete line of eyewear.
Dr. Colombo is also on staff at William Beaumont Hospital in Troy, as well as the Crittenton Hospital in Rochester.
He received his specialty training in ophthalmology at the University of Ottawa after graduating from the University of Ottawa Medical School in Ontario, Canada.
He is a licensed physician and surgeon and is board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
In addition, Dr. Colombo is certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
He and the staff at Orion Troy Ophthalmology recognize that there’s no such thing as a routine eye exam. That’s why choosing a board-certified ophthalmologist is an important decision.
Since their move into the new state of the art Beaumont Medical Building at 1455 S. Lapeer Road, Orion Troy Ophthalmology has also added a physician.
L. Ferdinand M. Galang, D.O. has joined the team, and is Board certified with the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology and, like Dr. Colombo is affiliated with Beaumont in Troy.
He completed a residency with the Detroit Osteopathic Ophthalmologic Consortium through Michigan State University after receiving his medical degree from Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center in Iowa.
Dr. Galang is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the Michigan Ophthalmic Society.
