Unique gifts, resale clothing all in one place

If you are looking for a gift for that hard-to-shop-for-person, Tesori Gifts owner Char Westman thinks she might have just the thing for you.
In her store, located in downtown at 18 N. Broadway, she carries unique items, including candles, jewelry and home items.
‘We have a little bit of something for everyone,? Westman said, adding that she carries ‘high-end products for a nice price.?
Westman also said that she tries to target Michigan-made items, and described her store as ‘a little bit of Birmingham in Lake Orion.?
Tesori Gifts also offers customers the chance to create a really unique gift by creating gift baskets featuring items you select especially for that someone special. After choosing from candles, jewelry, scented lotions and an array of home items, you select a basket and Westman will package it all together into one beautiful gift.
In keeping with the tradition of trying to ‘have a little bit of something for everyone,? resale clothing is also for sale at Tesori Gifts.
‘We were looking to do something different,? Westman said. ‘It’s almost like two stores in one.?
The resale clothing portion of the store is operated by Westman’s friend, Sandy Szarek, and called Tickled Pink.
‘It means happiness,? Szarek said of Tickled Pink. ‘Basically, it is a new and resale lady’s apparel boutique.?
According to Szarek, Tickled Pink ‘started with being a typical woman loving clothes.? Szarek’s interest combined with some spring cleaning, going through her clothing, as well as her mother’s.
She found that she had quite the accumulation of clothing, with a lot of the items being almost like new, and some with the tags still on. From there, Tickled Pink was born.
‘There’s lots of good name brands that they don’t have to drive to Rochester or Troy to pick up an outfit here or there,? Szarek said, noting that some of the brands are Saks 5th Avenue, Cache and even a wrap from a trip to Brazil.
Right now, there are a variety of items in sizes two through 18, including bathing suits, formal wear, blouses and pants. She also carries some accessories.
‘I want to keep it interesting,? Szarek added. ‘I’m going for all higher-end, high-quality, nice pieces that I think everyone would like to have.?
Both Westman and Szarek are happy to find a place in downtown Lake Orion.
‘It’s been going really well,? Westman said of her family-owned business that has been operating for a year-and-half. ‘I’m happy to be a part of and support local economy.?
