St. Joe’s VBS goes on Serengeti trek

St. Joseph Church in Lake Orion hosted a Serengeti Trek Vacation Bible Program for a record attendance of 240 children on June 20-24.
Helping to make the program a success were some dedicated volunteers. There were more than 30 adult station leaders and over 60 teen crew leaders who gave up a part of their summer vacation to minister to the children at St. Joe’s.
‘When you gather almost 350 together to sing and praise God, it makes for an awesome experience,? director Jon Myers said.
Throughout the week, children enjoyed crafts, games, Bible adventures, videos and snacks that all followed each day’s Bible inspired theme.
At the end of the week , the children donated school supplies that were gathered together to make kits for children in Africa as part of World Vision, an international relief organization.
The donations are part of Operation Kid-to-Kid which allows the children to experience helping other kids on a global scale.
Adult volunteers were: Jon and Kimberly Myers, Julie Skelley, Lisa Gray, Tracey Hurford, Anne Jackson, Renee Korhonen, Jennifer Bero, Kim Moore, Brett Brandon, Sue Andreolli, Mary Rogers, Donna Ferstle, Patty Conflitti, Kim Crick, Colleen and Melissa Heacock, Annette D’Alessandro, Brianna Coughlin, Emily and Becca Ferstle, Brad Singelyn, Yvonne Zaun, Michelle Kiracofe and Denise Murry.
