Oxford’s varsity boys baseball team continued its winning ways racking up a record of 5-1-1 last week.
In a doubleheader against Rochester Adams Monday, the boys won the first game 8-5 and tied the second game 9-9. It was called due to darkness at the end of five innings.
Russell Luxton got the win for the first game while James McLean recorded the save. Kyle Teague hit a home run in the first game.
On Saturday, the fellas split a doubleheader with Troy, winning the first game 8-5 and losing the second 16-0. Both Teague and Mitch Stefanski hit home runs. On the mound, Teague got the win and Eric Meyer the save.
Waterford Mott got beat by Oxford 4-1 and 10-0 in a Friday doubleheader.
In the first game, Teague had three RBIs, Eric Turk hit a double, Alex Seinar had two doubles and one RBI, and McLean, who got the win on the mound, hit a two-run homer.
In game two, Geoff Charles had two RBIs on a triple, while Turk, Teague and Don Pohl each had two RBIs. Pohl got the win on the mound.
On Tuesday, April 15, the Cats beat Stoney Creek 5-3. Teague recorded 13 strike-outs on the mound. Behind the plate, he had two hits.
Overall, the team is 7-1-1 going into its Flint Metro League opener against Brandon Thursday.
