Oil changes to benefit classic car

Tomorrow’s professional auto mechanics are ready to change your oil today.
Oxford High School’s Auto Club is hosting a three-day ‘Oil Change Marathon? from Monday, March 31 through Wednesday, April 2.
Oil changes will take place from 3-4:30 p.m. each day.
‘We’re doing appointments every 15 minutes,? said Auto Technology Instructor Dan Balsley. ‘We’ll have three hoists running at a time.?
A regular change will cost $20, which includes five quarts of oil and a new filter.
Customers with special oil requests, such as synthetic or diesel, will have to pay an additional cost or supply the oil themselves, according to Balsley.
All the students? work will be closely supervised by Balsley and his assistant, Scott Woody.
‘They’re going to do a professional, quality job,? Balsley assured. ‘The customers won’t have any concerns. The job will be done correctly.?
Oil change appointments must be scheduled in advance with Balsley.
Customers should be prepared to tell him the year, make, model and engine size of their vehicle so he can pre-order the correct parts.
Proceeds from the event will be used by the auto club to work on its project car ? a 1967 Plymouth Belvedere.
Every year, the club does something different to the car, from body work to overhauling the engine.
The OHS Auto Club meets every Tuesday from 3-4:30 p.m. When the club’s not working on the project car, it’s taking field trips and attending car cruises.
Balsley said the club is for students in grades 9-12 who have ‘not just an interest, but a passion? for automobiles.
