M-24 and Oakdell scene of two accidents Saturday

The intersection of M-24 and Oakdell had a busy day Saturday as it was the scene of two accidents.
The first (pictured above) occurred around 1:15 p.m. when a 1999 Chevy SUV, driven by a 57-year-old Lapeer woman, headed southbound on M-24 was travelling “too fast and was unable to stop,” according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s report.
“She crossed left of center to avoid hitting the car in front of her and struck” a northbound 1994 Ford van driven by a 37-year-old Oxford woman, the report stated.
“Severe damage” was sustained by both vehicles.
The Lapeer driver was transported to POH in Pontiac with possible injuries.
A passenger in the Ford van, a 9-year-old Oxford girl, was also transported to POH with possible injuries.
The Lapeer driver was cited by deputies for driving left of center.
Later that day around 9:18 p.m., a 1992 Plymouth traveling south on M-24 in the left lane “lost control on the icy/snowy roadway” and “swerved” into the right southbound lane, colliding with a 1995 Chevy driven by a 20-year-old Lapeer man.
The driver of the Plymouth, an 18-year-old Orion man, was cited by deputies for driving too fast.
