Lady Cats start league play 1-1

A win against Clio and loss to Lapeer East kicked off the beginning of play in the Flint Metro League for the Oxford girls varsity basketball team.
Last week, Oxford beat Clio 55-53.
Down 30-17 at the half, according to Coach Al Poynter, the ladies came back to outscore the Mustangs 38-23 in the second half.
Leading scorer for Oxford was freshman Allie Laidlaw with 19 points, 17 of which were made in the second half including four 3-point shots.
Sophomore Joelle Harms scored 14 points and had five rebounds.
On Tuesday night, the Lady Cats traveled to Lapeer East where they lost 57-39.
Poynter said Lapeer East is a ‘physical team? that ‘took it to us right away.?
Leading scorers for Oxford were sophomore Jessica Raisch with 8 points and senior Chelsey Line with 7 points.
With an overall record of 3-2 and league record of 1-1, Poynter said, ‘We’re still trying to find ourselves.?
The next game is Thursday at home against Holly.
