A couple from Elkton took an unexpected trip to the hospital Friday afternoon when their 1995 Chevy was rear-ended in downtown Oxford. The 35-year-old Elkton man and his wife, also 35, were stopped on M-24, waiting to turn left onto Broadway Street, when a 1996 Jeep heading south on M-24 struck their car from behind. The couple was transported by ambulance to Lapeer Regional Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Jeep, a 17-year-old Oxford man, was cited by village police for failing to stop. Neither the 17-year-old nor his passenger reported any injuries.
