Clarkston cops hunting for young thieves

Clarkston police are looking for two boys who allegedly swiped several hundred dollars from a downtown business last week.
According to Police Chief Dale LaCroix, one youth distracted the clerk at the Union General Store at 50 S. Main around 4 p.m., Thursday, April 16, while another raided the cash register.
The clerk told police the boys appeared to be between 13-15 years old, were of medium build, and approximately 5?8?. One of the youths, the clerk noted, had ‘shaggy? blond hair.
The boys took off on BMX-type bikes after one grabbed the cash.
‘It’s heartbreaking to have a robbery like that, not only in your business, but in your town,? said Curt Catallo, who owns the business in partnership with his wife, Ann Stevenson. ‘I would implore parents and friends who notice these kids suddenly have a few hundred bucks to ask ‘where’d you get the money???
Based on the clerk’s description, Catallo said the boys may have been in earlier last week.
‘They probably came in to case the joint,? he said. ‘It wasn’t an impulsive thing. It was very deliberate.?
Catallo said he was on the lookout, and hoped others would be, as well.
‘If they’re brazen enough to steal money from the till in broad daylight, they’re going to do it again,? he said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Clarkston Police at 248-625-0088.
