A mad mad mad mad Clarkston?

Drivers, fasten your seatbelts and secure your thinking caps’the first annual Clarkston Optimist Road Rally is about to begin.
Teams of 4-6 are invited to join in a clue-deciphering event that takes participants on a trip through the community as they compete to be first to arrive at the end location.
The road rally will direct drivers to 8-10 stops in the Clarkston area. A participation fee of $35 per person includes dinner a secret end location
‘People who want to do some fun, low cost things will really enjoy this,? said Optimist member Robin Brose, noting the event will also result in more fun for local kids, since money raised will go toward improving Clarkston’s Depot Park. ‘People will support that which they create.?
Proceeds from the Oct. 13 road rally will fund The Twirl’a classic merry-go-round apparatus, which will serve younger children, and X-Wave, designed for children in the 10-12 age range, a population often forgotten by playground designers.
‘We’re extremely excited about that one,? said Jean Dasuqi, owner and executive director of Lil? People’s Place, and Clarkston Optimist Club president-elect. ‘It’s like a balance beam, but kids use teamwork and coordination to make it go up and down like a wave.?
The Optimist Club hopes to raise about $7,000 for the equipment, with an installation goal date set for May 2008.
‘We think it’s going to be loads of fun,? said Dasuqi, who sat on the group’s playground committee. ‘The Optimists haven’t done a road rally before, and it’ll be a fun fall activity.?
