OMS student turning 11 on 11/11/11

It’s the type of thing that happens once in a lifetime, if you’re lucky enough to be born on the right date.
On Friday, Oxford resident Shae Walters will celebrate his 11th birthday.
That’s right, the Oxford Middle School sixth-grader will turn 11 on 11/11/11.
‘It’s kind of unique,? said his dad, Jeff Walters. ‘It’s definitely something that’s been on our radar all year.?
Shae’s parents are still working on a way to celebrate this truly unique birthday. ‘His mother (Jen) and I are trying to come up with something creative and clever to make it memorable for him,? Jeff said.
Shae told this reporter he’s hoping to receive a gold chain for his birthday ? hint, hint, mom and dad.
Jeff described his son as an ‘active, athletic young boy.? He recently finished playing football on the Oxford Jr. Wildcats JV Gold team and he plans to play on the seventh-grade OMS team next fall.
In the spring, he’ll continue playing youth baseball as part of the local Federation 11-and-under team.
‘I like sports because it’s good exercise, it’s fun and you get to meet new people,? Shae said.
Shae is hoping to become either a professional football or baseball player when he grows up. But if that doesn’t work out, he said he’d like to own a heating and cooling business like his father does.
When he’s not playing sports, Shae enjoys spending time with his little brother, Gavin, 7, who’s a second-grader at Clear Lake Elementary.
