Oxford’s racial diversity increases

It’s still not exactly a rainbow of people, but the level of racial diversity increased somewhat in both Oxford Township and Village based on the 2010 Census.
Oxford Township saw its number of African Americans jump from 72 to 278. Oxford Village’s African American population increased from 21 to 65.
The number of Asians also increased in both Oxfords. In the township, Asians increased from 81 to 237. In the village, they increased from 19 to 25.
Folks of American Indian or Alaska Native descent saw their numbers increase from 42 to 71 in the township and drop from 10 to 7 in the village.
The number of Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders rose in the township from 3 to 11 and in the village from 0 to 1.
Those who classified themselves as ‘some other race? not listed on the Census increased from 100 to 131 in the township and from 11 to 25 in the village.
Residents who reported being a mix of two or more races increased from 210 to 326 in the township and from 37 to 46 in the village.
Caucasian people remained the dominant race in Oxford representing 19,472 out of 20,526 folks in the township and 3,267 out of 3,436 residents in the village.
