Friday the 13th bad luck for new driver

A 14-year-old Oxford resident got a taste of what’s waiting for him out on the open road when his vehicle was rear-ended Friday, June 13.
The young man was stopped at the intersection of W. Drahner Rd. and Red Barn Dr., waiting to make a left-turn, when his 2003 GMC Envoy was struck from behind.
A 67-year-old Rogers City man was driving the 2001 Buick that caused the accident, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s report. He was ticketed.
The Oxford teen, who will turn 15 next month and was driving with a learner’s permit, was transported by the Oxford Fire Department to Crittenton Hospital in Rochester. His mother and another female passenger in the Envoy were not injured.
