Richard and Bonnie Lindner celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 14 by having breakfast at the McDonald’s in Oxford.
‘They make the best pancakes ? ever,? Bonnie said.
The couple was married in Detroit at Brightmoor Christian Church.
Richard worked at the General Motors Tech Center in Warren for 24 years, while Bonnie owned a cleaning company in Auburn Hills, BPL Cleaning Crew, for 18 years.
The Lindners have lived in Oxford for the last four years. ‘We just kind of migrated north,? Richard said.
Richard and Bonnie have attended Christ the King Church on W. Drahner Road for more than 10 years.
‘I’m the visitation pastor there and my sweet Bonnie girl is my support staff,? Richard said.
So what’s the secret to being married for five decades?
‘Endurance,? replied Bonnie, which garnered a chuckle from Richard.
‘Forgiveness. Lots of foregiveness,? Richard said.
‘A lot of love,? Bonnie said.
‘Determination ? deciding that no matter what we were sticking together,? Richard added.
Both agreed that ‘lots of humor? is also very important in a marriage.
The Lindner’s happy union has produced three children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
