Nine runners medal at Brother Rice Invite

Oxford’s cross country runners did well at the Brother Rice Invitational held on Saturday.
Overall, the girls placed fifth out of 12 teams and won a trophy, while the boys placed seventh out of 13.
‘I was very pleased with their effort and their attitude,? said Coach Ray Sutherland.
Senior Ben Cole finished the 5-kilometer run in 18 minutes, taking 13th place and earning a medal.
Finishing in 18:06, senior Adam Heskitt placed 18th, earning himself a medal as well.
Four members of the girls team received individual medals.
Sophomore Kate Wolanin finished in 23 minutes and placed 26th.
Freshman Megan Seeley was right on Wolanin’s heels finishing with a time of 23:04 and placing 28th.
Junior Taylor Dewey placed 32nd with a time of 23:20.
Sophomore Shannon Seeley placed 37th with a time of 23:55.
Seniors Danielle Kelley, Jordan Murray and Ellen Darnall also earned medals for helping the team come in fifth overall.
‘I think the kids are improving substantially,? Sutherland said. ‘We’re running very good.?
