Put on your party hats, it’s that time of year again.
Time to Celebrate Oxford!
Plenty of food, fun, music and entertainment awaits festival goers on Friday Aug. 3 and Saturday, Aug. 4. This year’s festival is sponsored by T&C Federal Credit Union, Oxford Bank, The Oxford Leader, Oxford Academy of Dance and Oxford Women’s Club.
Festivities begin Friday night with a 7 p.m. concert featuring rockabilly hall of famer and Hazel Park native Jack Scott performing 1950s and 60s classics on the Main Stage in downtown’s southwest parking lot.
Scott was Detroit’s first rock ‘n? roll star, scoring his first regional hit in 1957 with ‘Baby She’s Gone.? Today, Jack Scott rarely performs in concert, so his appearance at Celebrate Oxford should be a special treat.
On Saturday, the fun continues and runs all day long from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Kids Central area, located at Oxford United Methodist Church on E. Burdick St. and sponsored by area churches, will offer all sorts of entertainment for families and kids of all ages including clowns, games, balloon animals and face painting.
Kids Central will have its own stage, which will feature a variety of performances including musical acts, dance routines and karate demonstrations.
The Kids Central stage schedule is as follows:
10 a.m. ? Center Stage Dance Co.
10:45 a.m. ? Bryant’s Karate
