Oxford’s Downtown Development Authority was certified as an Accredited National Main Street Program for the second straight year last week.
‘It’s a big honor for you folks to do this two years in a row,? said Bob Donohue, of the Oakland County Planning and Economic Development Department ‘You’ve certainly earned it.?
Donohue was on hand at Monday night’s DDA meeting to help the group celebrate the one-year anniversary of its 2006 certification.
‘A very unusual thing occurred last year,? he told the audience. ‘After just one year in the Main Street program, the Oxford DDA achieved what’s called a perfect 10 out of 10 score on the National Main Street Certification as part of our evaluation process.?
Donohue then added, ‘A really cool thing occurred here last week (when) they scored a perfect 10 again.?
Being certified two consecutive years ‘doesn’t mean there’s ultimate perfection,? he explained, but it does indicate ‘things are looking very good organizationally? for the DDA, which bodes ‘well for the future of downtown.? ? Editor C.J. Carnacchio
