Wildlife artist returns to Margot’s Gallery

Durwood Coffey’s colorful view of the animal kingdom returns to Margot’s Galley & Frame in downtown Oxford Jan. 27-28.
The Westland artist noted for his vibrant acrylic works depicting tropical fish, birds, insects and reptiles will be showing approximately 25 pieces.
It’s been two years since Coffey’s last show in Oxford, an event that ‘brought a lot of people into town,? according to gallery owner Margot VanHorn.
Prominently featured this time around will be Coffey’s exciting new African series.
From elephants and zebras to tigers and giraffes, Coffey captures the majesty and wonder of Africa’s wild beasts and brings them to life on his canvass.
‘I’ve always liked African animals,? he said.
Coffey’s showing at Margot’s Gallery (5 S. Washington Street) will take place on Saturday, Jan. 27 from 7-10 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 28 from 12-4 p.m.
One month after his show here in the Gravel Capital of the World, Coffey will display his work in the Big Apple. He’s been selected to be an exhibitor at Artexpo New York (March 1-5), the world’s largest fine and popular art fair.
Although he’s had great success doing the Michigan art fair circuit over the years, Coffey said it’s time to get some out-of-state exposure.
‘The world comes to New York,? he said.
