Members of the Oxford Lions Club will be around town Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29, distributing their familiar White Canes and seeking donations. Lions members will be downtown at the Washington/Burdick intersection and Oxford Bank’s main branch. If enough volunteers are available, members will also be at Drahner and M-24 and the S. Mill/Burdick intersection. Monies raised from the White Cane fund-raiser are used for sight conservation projects such as free eyeglasses and eye exams for those in need locally, Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester and the Penrickton Center for Blind Children in Taylor. The Oxford Lions hope to raise at least $4,000 this year. For more information about the Oxford Lions or becoming a member call President Charlie Garrard at (248) 628-1993. Photo by C.J. Carnacchio.
