It was a scene right out of a Norman Rockwell painting Saturday evening as the gracious townsfolk of Leonard gathered round for the annual Christmas tree lighting outside Rowland Hall.
Leonard resident Shirley Patterson, 89, was given the honor of lighting the town tree this year. A lifelong Addison resident, Patterson’s lived in Leonard since 1948 and graduated from Oxford High School in 1935.
Following the tree lighting, the crowd warmed up inside Rowland Hall by singing Christmas carols, drinking hot chocolate and munching delicious cookies and other sweet treats baked with love by local residents.
A very merry time was had by all.
