Synopsis, Regular Meeting, Monday, October 17, 2016
Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Invocation: Trustee Flood. All rose for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Recognized Justin Sylvain and Evan Krefski as Orion Township Citizens of the Month for their performance in the World Jetski Championship.
Recognized Clerk Shults in attaining Michigan Master Assessor Certification.
Approved the payment of bills in the amount of $958,925.26, payrolls in the amount of $112,135.13, for a total disbursement of funds in the amount of $1,071,060.39.
Approved the Minutes, Regular Meeting, Monday, October 3, 2016.
Approved the application under Ord. 76, Alcoholic Beverages Regulation for the annual Lake Orion Lions Christmas for Everyone Charity Auction, contingent upon final approval from the State, and waived the $300 application fee due to the non-profit status of the applicant.
Approved the temporary sign permit waiver request to allow Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and School to put up 25 signs throughout the Township to advertise their annual Holiday Craft Show.
Approved the SMART municipal credit contract for 2017; with funds used to help fund the Township’s participation in the NOTA program.
Authorized attendance at MTA’s New Officials Training for all newly-elected Township officials, with sign up authorized immediately following the November 8, 2016 election.
Approved the request for roadside solicitations from the Lake Orion Lion’s Club to sell
Goodfellow newpaper sales, with the understanding that participants will follow safety protocols and will not in any way interfere with the normal flow of traffic.
Received and filed the Treasurer’s investment update.
Rescheduled the second reading ofPC-2016-20, GreenES Minor PUD to November 21, 2016.
Received and filed the notice of solicitation from Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church for their annual personal care item collection.
Accepted the $25,000 donation from the Daisy Project to be used towards the purchase and installation of an inclusive merry-go-round at Friendship Park.
Authorized OHM, Township Engineers, to complete and submit a grant application to the MDNR for funding towards the replacement of non-conforming pathway along Joslyn Road, north of Heights Road (part of the Iron Belle route) at a cost not to exceed $3000.00.
Accepted the resignation of Tim McNaught, Building Inspector.
Authorized the temporary Election Assistant in the Clerk’s office to work up to 29 hours per week for the remainder of the General Election cycle.
Approved a waiver of Noise Ordinance for Eagle Valley Landfill, to allow for extended hours for a paving project (with a completion date of October 30, 2016).
Scheduled a special meeting for October 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in order to consider the proposal from BS&A for financial services software.
Postponed consideration of the sale of McConnell Field to the December 5, 2016 meeting.
Authorized the preparation of a market analysis report for vacant property on Harding Avenue.
Directed the Clerk to provide a listing of all Township-owned properties to the Board.
Heard Village water system update.
